Today is my last day!

Hello everyone!

Today is my last day at my internship with Pop2Life. I’ve had such an amazing time with everyone and I’m so grateful for all of the experience I’ve gained! Pop2Life is small, but it is definitely powerful. What makes it even more amazing is that it’s like a family. Everyone supports each other and looks out for one another (even the interns!). I know I will never find an internship quite like the one I found at Pop2Life.

Thank you so much and good luck with you future interns!

Comic Con Recap!

Hey Everyone! I know there hasn’t been a lot of posts in a while, but that’s because we’ve all been super busy interning with Pop2Life! Earlier in July I attended Comic Con (because my internship rocks) and I had the chance to do so many amazing things and meet a lot of celebrities I look up to!

The days leading up to Comic Con were hectic! We had to make sure everything was perfect for NBC, Viacom, and THQ!

But on July 12th, the first official day for Comic Con, I ran into everyone from Doctor Who (a show I’m completely obsessed with!)

I met Arthur Darvill (pictured above), Karen Gillan (above), Matt Smith, Tony Curran, Steven Moffat, and Sue Vertue! If you don’t know who they are, look it up! I like to believe that it wasn’t a coincidence that they all happened to be eating at the same restaurant as Pop2Life (it was an employee dinner), it had to be fate!

I’m so happy Matt Ford picked that restaurant!

The next few days were pretty laid back, but Saturday Night rolls around! I was waiting to meet up with Matt Ford and then John Barrowman walks by! I was also give the lucky opportunity to attend the NBC Party where I got this neat little flipbook made (that monkey was ADORABLE).

I had the BEST time and I was able to meet so many amazing people from THQ, Viacom, and NBC. I cannot even begin to express how much fun it was working at Comic Con and being right inside the Convention Center!

Oh, and I met the Power Rangers…

John and Hank Green a.k.a Vlogbrothers

You guys know who I’m talking about! If you don’t, then you’re about to find out.

First off, let me tell you about each brother individually and then I’ll talk about what they’ve done together.

John Green is a #1 Bestselling Author on the New York Times Bestseller list. He writes Young Adult Fiction and is a well known vlogger on YouTube. His works include:

Looking for Alaska

Paper Towns

An Abundunce of Katherines

Will Grayson, Will Grayson

and his most recent novel: The Fault in Our Stars (and John Green signed every single first edition copy)

His brother, Hank Green, is a young entrepreneur, musician, and entertainer. He has produced videos for YouTube, NASA, The Discover Channel, and he has also written for The New York Times, Scientific American, and Mental Floss Magazine. His music is also available on iTunes.

Together, John and Hank Green started a project on YouTube called Botherhood 2.0 which challenged them to stop communicating through text message for a year and only communicate through video blogs. After their project ended, they decided to continue making videos with their new channel, vlogbrothers. They went from speaking once or twice a year to talking every single day.

Aside from Vlogbrothers, John and Hank Green have started a number of different YouTube channels, some dedicated to education (CrashCourse), fictional vlogs (The Lizzie Bennet Diaries), and sports. They are also the creators of VidCon, a large gathering of YouTubers and YouTube lovers filled with concerts, panels, and simply fun.

They also dedicate themselves to a number of project which they believe will “decrease worldsuck” like Project4Awesome and Kiva.

You can check out some their work below:

Jenna Marbles

Jenna Marbles, or Jenna Mourey, is well-known for her honest, crazy personality and her love for everything on the internet, including cats. In her videos she gives advice to young women like “How to Trick People into Thinking You’re Good Looking” and “How to Avoid People You Don’t Want to Talk to”. Her advice is hilarious and sometimes so crazy, it actually works and people have used her techniques in real life!

This weekend I met her! I attended a UCB show with my friend Alyssa Onofreo and Jenna Marbles was the guest. She was hilarious, herself, and of course, fabulous. She came to the show dressed up as Nyan Cat (if you don’t know what that is, look it up!) After the show she was more than happy to chat with everyone that wanted to chat! She was nice, excited to meet people, and happy to hear that I would see her at VidCon.

If you haven’t seen her videos yet, check them out!

Wow! Time Flies!

I can’t believe that I have been here a week already. This city is so fast paced, I don’t even notice when a week flies by. Well let me tell you a little bit about my week last week.

I hit the ground running and didn’t stop until Friday. My first week here has been amazing to say the least. First off let me tell you how nice everyone at P2L is. From the first day I felt so welcome! I was asked to hop on so many different projects it was great!!

I was able to hop on and do a little bit of graphic design for Broadway in Bryant Park, I got to help with the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Festival in Miami, we created a Tumblr account for the P2L interns (http://www.tumblr.com/blog/pop2life-interns) and I got to do so much more.

Now let me tell you a little bit about my weekend. Since I am from Utah and I have only been to NYC once in my life I decided I needed to explore a little more of the city. So on Friday I went to DUMBO in Brooklyn. I walked around and saw the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

Then on Saturday morning, I went to the Dekalb Market in Brooklyn. I love Farmers’ Markets. I didn’t buy any produce or anything, but I did have this amazing mint iced tea! So good! Then in the afternoon I thought I would spend the rest of the day in Central Park. I didn’t spend much time in Park last time I came to NYC, so I wanted to spend as much time as I could in the park. I walked around and saw the Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, and so many people laying out/riding bikes/running and more.

And finally on Sunday I was in 7th Heaven. Every year on Fathers’ Day in Park Slope in Brooklyn they shut down 7th Ave between Flatbush Ave to 16th Street and hold a giant block party. They have food, drinks, vendors, live music, and so so so much more. Coming from Utah I don’t think I’ve ever seen something as large as this. It was so much fun and fun for all ages.

Well there you have it that was my weekend and my first week. I hope you keep coming back for more!

Heat wave!

Yesterday New York hit a high of 94 degrees. All day long, people on the streets were dripping sweat and sipping on a cold beverage. Girls were rocking their sun dresses and guys were sporting their khaki shorts. Tyson and I had to run to the bank which was brutal from the heat- but, the woman at the bank gave us about 10 lollipops, so it was all worth it! Overall, it was HOT.

Today is going to be even worse: we will see temperatures as high as 97 degrees! Thankfully I am in the New Jersey office today, which is nice and cool. After work, I am going to my brothers High School graduation which has been moved to indoors because of the heat. I know I will be in the air conditioning and staying hydrated all day long!

What will you do to stay cool in this hot weather?

10 Day Countdown!

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for June 30th! It’s probably the best day of the year and it just-so-happens to be my birthday! Most important of all, it’s my 21ST Birthday! I cannot wait to turn 21 while in the sunny city of Los Angeles.

That’s not the only thing exciting happening on June 30th! VidCon 2012 is also taking place from June 29th to July 1st and guess who’s going?! Everyone.

What is VidCon? VidCon a big convention where everyone from YouTube gathers to have a lot of fun. There’s concerts, games, panels, meet & greets, and discussions with some of the biggest personalities on YouTube.

So, for the next 10 days I’m going to post about some of my favorite YouTubers and how they’ve used their start on YouTube to educate and make others aware of how they can make the world a better place.
